Valuation in a COVID-19 World

In this session, BKD valuation professionals will discuss the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic environment and its impact on valuations. Topics include how uncertainty has affected valuation inputs (such as financial forecasts, discount rates, and valuation discounts), goodwill and intangible asset impairment considerations, treatment of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans in valuations, and valuation opportunities created by the current economic environment.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify how uncertainty resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has affected valuations
  • Describe valuation issues companies need to consider as they evaluate potential impairment of intangible assets and goodwill resulting from COVID-19
  • Discuss valuation opportunities the current economic environment has created to sell and transfer ownership in companies and assets
