Taking the Stress Out of Kansas Medicaid DSH

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is proposing reforms to the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) program to provide fair and equitable distribution of DSH funds. DSH changes will be effective in the 2020 DSH year. In preparation of these changes, BKD will review the basic timeline of the Kansas Medicaid DSH Survey process and how to complete the required survey exhibits and review any changes to the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2020 DSH Survey.

Casey is a senior managing consultant for BKD National Health Care Group, overseeing and providing reimbursement services for health care clients. Her nine years of experience include preparing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and DSH surveys, assisting with DSH audits and providing various other consulting services within the health care industry. Casey is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Kansas Society of CPAs and the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Sunflower Chapter. She is a graduate of Wichita State University, Kansas, with a B.S.B.A. degree in accounting.
