Under the right conditions, transferring ownership of a physician practice or clinic from the hospital or health system to a community health center (CHC) can create positive outcomes for all parties involved. But what are the federally qualified health center (FQHC) requirements and how can this transfer take place? In this presentation, participants will gain perspective from BKD’s hospital and CHC practice leaders, along with an attorney from Garfunkel Wild, as they share their experiences in forging winning relationships between providers. In addition, this panel will provide insight into the FQHC requirements surrounding specialists in the FQHC setting, resident rotations, referral arrangements and more to help educate hospital management on the benefits of having an FQHC strategy.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe FQHC designation benefits and requirements
- Identify the process for converting a hospital clinic into an FQHC
- Recognize how hospital specialists, residents and referral arrangements work in the FQHC setting
