Institutional Special Needs Plan (I-SNP) contracts are quickly rising in popularity as Medicare, managed care and state Medicaid programs push for value-based reimbursement payment models and place a heightened focus on quality scores and hospitalizations. This session aims to assist participants in understanding the program and its implementation hurdles and help leaders evaluate the strategic and financial implications of I-SNP contracts as they determine if they’re an opportunity for their organization. The session’s leaders have practical experience evaluating SNFs for I-SNP and assisting SNFs with the implementation of the I-SNP model.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the I-SNP contract model and how it would impact SNF reimbursement
- Analyze their organization’s key metrics (admissions, skill days, average length of stay and medical loss ratio) as they relate to evaluating whether to pursue an I-SNP contract
- Recognize which quality and administrative measures are differentiators for payors and how they can be used to support positive cash flow
