MDS 3.0 & SNF QRP: Effect of the Changes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently held a two-day provider training on changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 related to the Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP). The changes included new additions to the MDS 3.0, MDS items that are being retired and items that are transitioning to state-optional. All changes to the MDS 3.0 will be effective October 1, 2018.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify new items to MDS 3.0
  • Apply coding instruction to new MDS 3.0 items
  • Recall SNF QRP measures affected by new MDS 3.0 items
  • Identify reports available for the SNF QRP
