West Named BKD’s Houston Managing Partner
NATIONAL OFFICE – BKD’s Governing Board has approved Brian West to serve as the next Houston office managing partner (MP), effective June 1, 2021. He will take the place of Kimberly McKay, who was recently appointed to serve as BKD’s South Region MP.
West, who will relocate from Oklahoma City, has been highly successful in growing and managing a practice in several industries in Oklahoma, including developing innovative solutions to his clients’ most complex problems. In addition to his strong leadership acumen, West’s background with commercial and private equity clients is a match with some of BKD’s most high-potential growth areas in the Houston market.
“Being in the South Region has allowed me an opportunity to work closely with several of the professionals in Houston,” West said. “I know I am joining a team that has passion for our people and dedication to providing Unmatched Client Service® to our clients. I’m proud to continue bringing solutions to help clients with the challenges they face, especially during times like these.”
As the South Region commercial industry leader, West has been actively engaged with the Houston commercial team and has gained firsthand knowledge of the practice unit’s strengths.
“We are confident he is the right leader for the Houston office because of his passion for client service, innovation and team development,” said McKay.
CEO-elect Tom Watson has worked closely with West over the last few years. “It’s clear why he was honored as our 2014 PRIDE Award recipient. I’ve been especially impressed with the passion he exhibits in growing a strong practice along with a successful team that provides Unmatched Client Service®,” he said.
West has been active in the Oklahoma business community and plans to bring that same level of involvement to Houston. He is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City and Leadership Tulsa. He was recognized by Oklahoma Gazette as a 2018 40 Under 40 honoree, The Journal Record as a 2015 Achiever Under 40 and by the Oklahoma Society of CPAs as a 2015 Trailblazer. West also serves as a board member for several organizations, including the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma, YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City and Leadership Oklahoma City.
He is a 2004 graduate of University of Central Arkansas with a B.B.A. degree in accounting and finance.
