Matlock to Succeed Mather as Commercial Services NIP
NATIONAL OFFICE – BKD CPAs & Advisors has selected Brian Matlock as BKD National Commercial Services (CS) Group national industry partner (NIP). Matlock will succeed John Mather, who is transitioning to a new role as managing partner for St. Louis and Decatur. The change is effective June 1.
NIPs are firmwide leaders who have a deep understanding of their respective industries. They lead innovation, shape growth visions and work with others to effectively serve the firm’s clients. Matlock, who currently leads the BKD National Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) Practice and Asset Management practices, will now bring that experience to the entire CS group.
“Since Brian joined BKD, his positive impact on our ENR and Asset Management practices has been tremendous,” said CEO-elect Tom Watson. “His insights and strategy for growing an industry will be a catalyst for future growth of our CS group.”
Mather said he has full confidence in Matlock based on his success with the ENR and Asset Management practices and his ability to inspire new ideas and identify opportunities. Mather’s previous contributions to the group included a strong track record of growth as well as a strategic rebranding of the niche to better recognize the variety of subindustries that fall under this initiative.
“Brian has already demonstrated he is a great leader through his efforts in helping grow two key practices for BKD. I know he will bring the same excitement, energy and passion to the entire CS group,” said Mather.
Watson said he is similarly confident in the potential for the CS group under Matlock’s leadership. “Brian brings a unique outlook to the CS NIP role, having worked for an international firm, national firm and local firm prior to finding his home at BKD,” Watson said. “He has a solid understanding of the business development approaches that will resonate with and appeal to our clients and prospects.”
Over the next few months, Matlock will work with Mather to transition the NIP duties and put the finishing touches on his vision for growth with the CS team. “I’m ecstatic to be following John as the next CS NIP. John has left a great legacy to follow and I look forward to bringing all the CS subniches together to provide ongoing Unmatched Client Service®,” said Matlock.
