BKD Donates $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield

News Release

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The BKD Foundation has donated $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield (BGCS) for security improvements. BGCS, which provides a safe and positive place for kids to go before and after school, needs security camera system updates at its Stalnaker Unit, which serves 300 children ages 6 to 18. The original system was installed 16 years ago, and its analog cameras cannot be viewed on a computer or smartphone.

“With the help of this generous donation from BKD, these children will be able to learn and play in a Club that has all program areas viewed accurately by digital security cameras,” said BGCS Director of Development Didem Koroglu. “Knowing we have updated equipment that works correctly and consistently will allow our staff to focus on developing and running successful and engaging programs. In addition, parents will have a peace of mind, knowing that safety is our priority. We thank BKD for helping us create a safe, fun environment for our kids so that they can have every opportunity to be successful in life.”

Gary Schafer, managing partner of BKD’s Southern Missouri practice, said he is pleased The BKD Foundation can assist this important project. “The BKD Foundation is proud to partner with BGCS and the other outstanding organizations supporting this project to help create positive change for our community,” Schafer said.
