The 2018 National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Fall ESOP Forum, held in October in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was attended by more than 300 participants. This conference provided attendees with information on employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), equity compensation plans and ownership culture.

The event opened with a preconference session focused on long-term ESOP sustainability. The keynote address was delivered by Andre Carrier, president and chief operating officer of Eureka Casinos. Eureka Casinos was the first 100 percent employee-owned casino in Nevada and only the second in the United States. In addition, more than 48 individual breakout sessions were offered with learning tracks including ESOP basics and beyond the basics, compensation and benefits, communications and culture and leadership and governance issues.

Highlights of the conference included one-on-one “meet with an expert” sessions and roundtable discussions. These expert sessions allowed attendees to have private conversations with an experienced professional and ask detailed questions. Roundtable discussions comprised groups of people and an experienced professional discussing specific topics in a collaborative format.
