The 2018 National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Annual Conference, held in April in Atlanta, Georgia, was attended by more than 1,800 participants. This was another record-breaking attendance for this conference, which provides attendees with information on employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), equity compensation plans and ownership culture.

A highlight of the conference was the announcement of the winners of the Innovations in Employee Ownership Award. This annual award recognizes employee-owned companies that have exhibited a dedication to promoting employee ownership and innovation in the workplace. The award is determined by a committee that considers such factors as the innovation’s positive effect on company culture, financial performance, employees and the employee-ownership community as a whole. This year’s winners were Oliver Winery in Bloomington, Indiana, and Cargas Systems, Inc. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Shawn Eastham, president at Polyguard Products; Kimberly Jones, president of Butler/Till; Dallan Guzinski, director at NCEO; and Michael Quarrey with Web Industries. In addition, there were more than 130 individual breakout sessions. Learning tracks included ESOP Basics; ESOPs: Beyond the Basics; Compensation & Benefits; Communications & Culture; and Leadership & Governance Issues.
