CMS releases the listing of more than 2,600 providers selected for year one cost data collection reporting.

Beginning on January 1, 2020, select Medicare-approved ground ambulance organizations will be required to collect and report certain cost data information through the Ground Ambulance Data Collection System. On November 1, CMS released the listing of the first providers selected to gather and report the data for the first cost data collection period. To view the listing of providers and suppliers selected for initial reporting, visit CMS’ website.

For hospitals that are selected but don’t submit, or don’t sufficiently submit, their cost data, a 10 percent reduction of Ambulance Fee Schedule payments will be imposed for a period of one year.

CMS also published Data Collection Instrument requirements for reporting the accumulated data. We expect more information and templates to become available to ambulance providers in the coming months. For questions or comments regarding the new reporting requirements, reach out to your BKD trusted advisor or use the Contact Us form below.
