Tackling the opioid epidemic is an ongoing, uphill battle for many health care providers, and the lack of access to information poses an additional challenge for hospitals striving to improve their systems. BKD’s Opioid Interactive Tool will help health systems understand the risks associated with treating patients with opioids and opioid dependency and overuse.
During a routine conversation with SSM Health, one of BKD’s largest health care clients, Partner Danielle Solomon realized SSM Health wasn’t satisfied knowing their strategic plans and goals were all tied to their reimbursement. “As a not-for-profit mission-based health system, they wanted to set a goal around improving the health of their community. They were doing a lot to improve prescribing protocols and patterns,” explains Danielle, “but they didn’t have any information to know their current baseline in order to set and monitor their goal.”
Danielle, Managing Director Brian Bell and Senior Managing Consultant Claire Torrella are working together to develop a tool that meets the needs of their client. “This is an exciting opportunity for us to make a difference in the lives of many people,” Brian says. With the help of a driven and passionate team, the Opioid Interactive Tool is currently under review in the Project Management Office and is scheduled for release in the near future.
“I’m passionate about finding innovative ways to use data to change behavior and improve the health of the community,” says Danielle.
