Quality Assessment

Internal audit (IA) activity can enhance an organization and its operations. But how effective is your IA activity? How do you know whether your IA activity complies with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing? IA is expected to work with management and add value while complying with the standards.

While internal quality assessments (QA) include ongoing monitoring of IA activity performance and periodic reviews through self-assessment, external QAs should be conducted at least every five years by a qualified, independent outside reviewer. BKD’s QA professionals can help by serving as your qualified outside reviewer, which can satisfy the requirement for external assessment.

BKD’s QA specialists have expertise in understanding and applying the standards. Through interviews with key personnel and review of IA documentation, such as risk assessments, plans, workpapers and reports, BKD can better understand your IA activity, including what you are doing well and potential areas for improvement.
