Penetration Testing

BKD IT Risk Services (ITRS) can help identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in your network subject to identity theft and exploitation by the hacking community. We apply tools and techniques commonly used by hackers, identity thieves and disgruntled employees.

Common Entry Points

How secure is your network? We can help identify points of entry in:

  • Misconfigured routers, firewalls and Internet servers
  • Unpatched software
  • Unsecured remote access
  • Accounts with excessive permissions
  • Weak and easily guessed passwords

Levels of Network Security Testing

Consider your needs and the depth of testing available from BKD ITRS:

Network scanning—Port scanners determine existing devices, open ports and services operating on these ports – a beginning step for full penetration testing.

Vulnerability scanning—Identifies network hosts, services, operating system, applications and related vulnerabilities – a highly automated scan based on a database of vulnerabilities.

Penetration testing—Network and vulnerability scanning combined with the human element of verification of vulnerabilities – a process that emulates a true hacking approach. External penetration testing simulates Internet-based attacks. Internal penetration testing simulates attacks by disgruntled individuals who have breached your network’s perimeter defenses.

After our tests, you’ll receive a report describing security concerns and recommendations to lessen the likelihood your organization will be subjected to system exploitation or sensitive information disclosure.

Security is a Continuous Process

You are never finished with network security. Anytime a new system is implemented or significant changes are made to your existing system, you must consider the effect on security. BKD ITRS can help with quarterly security testing.

Our dedicated penetration testing team members hold the following certifications:

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I) and A+ Service Technician Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
