Our Community Ties

BKD encourages our staff to become actively involved in community organizations and events and to participate in our BKD Foundation outreach where appropriate. It’s our way of supporting the community while expanding our network of business contacts.

Our community involvement is one way BKD gives back to the communities that have given so much to us. Go to community involvement or to the other BKD locations for more information about BKD's ties to our communities firmwide and locally. Here is a sample list of organizations our Branson, Joplin and Springfield partners and employees take pride in supporting:

Habitat for Humanity

The Habitat for Humanity of Springfield has a mission to build safe, decent, affordable housing with lower income families and eliminate substandard housing in Greene County, Missouri.

BKD provided funds and 20 employees who volunteered their time to help build a house for a low-income Springfield family.

Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce – Joseph Newman Business & Technology Innovation Center Building Renovation Project

In the spirit of fostering an entrepreneurial culture, the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce is creating this innovation center to serve as a business and technology incubator. The mission is to create a positive environment for developing, supporting and promoting entrepreneurs; with an emphasis on those pursuing innovative technology

BKD Foundation recently made a contribution to help restore a 20th century building in downtown Joplin, which will house the Innovation center’s facilities and give new businesses the resources they need to succeed.

Ozark Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America (OTBSA) – Cow Creek Project

The OTBSA covers 32 counties in southwest Missouri and serves 14,000 children as the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

OTBSA recognized BKD as a Golden Eagle Award recipient for a contribution towards materials and repairs to the donated Cow Creek Recreational Area.

Family Violence Center

The Family Violence Center, the first organization in Missouri to specifically serve victims of domestic violence, provides shelter and advocacy to victims and education to break the cycle of abuse. The Harmony House provides shelter to women and children from southwest Missouri.

BKD Foundation provided the funds to replace all of the first floor windows of the Harmony House, which were in a poor state of disrepair and causing a large spike in the utility costs for the organization.
