BKD encourages our staff to become actively involved in community organizations and events and to participate in our BKD Foundation outreach where appropriate. It’s our way of supporting the community while expanding our network of business contacts.

BKDers Bowl for Kids
More than a third of BKD’s Louisville staff participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters 2005 Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser in spring 2005, helping raise more than $21,000 from local accounting firms. Bowl for Kids’ Sake has been one of the most successful fundraisers of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentucky for the last 20 years. This year, the event attracted more than 4,000 bowlers from Metro Louisville who obtained pledges from more than 40,000 sponsors in the area.
BKD bowlers carried pledge sheets and appealed to prospective donors who supported the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters: to facilitate and enhance the positive development of youth through volunteer friendships, mentoring and outreach. As one BKDer explained, “Every year, when we help Big Brothers Big Sisters with this event, I feel we’re playing a big role in improving the lives of children in our community.”
