BKD Joins Food Bank to Combat Hunger
BKD Houston employees eagerly volunteer every autumn to help the Houston Food Bank assist the area’s hungry and needy.

Employees at the BKD Houston office take time each November to help the Houston Food Bank prepare for the busy holiday season.
The Food Bank distributes 27 million pounds of food throughout the year and helps 230,000 individuals in need each month. Four hundred hunger relief programs in an 18-county area benefit from the Food Bank. The Food Bank serves food pantry programs, homeless shelters, safe havens for the battered and abused and nutrition sites for children and senior citizens.
The Houston Food Bank also is a leading local disaster relief organization. In the three weeks following the floods of Tropical Storm Allison, the Food Bank distributed three million pounds of relief supplies. The Food Bank responded again with supplies for the thousands of passengers stranded at Houston airports during the September 11 terrorist disaster.
BKD employees are honored to support this outstanding philanthropic organization by sorting food items and assisting with inventory at the center.
BKD & Houston Rodeo Partner to Provide Scholarships
BKD employees and interns braved a cold and wet weekend to cheer on runners in the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run benefiting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Education Fund.

BKD Houston is a major sponsor of the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run. The 5K and 10K runs kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year to raise proceeds to benefit the HLSR Education Fund.
More than 6,000 runners competed in this year’s race, including several BKD employees, and raised a total of $140,000.
Since its inception in 1982, the Rodeo Run has raised $1.4 million to provide scholarships for deserving college-bound students.
In addition to providing monetary support for the event, BKD Houston also provides a “Hoopla Team” to spur runners on to the finish line.
