Staffing Assessments - Labor Productivity Benchmarking

Staffing Assessments
- Analyze current productivity levels by department based on worked hours per unit of service
- Interview department managers to obtain an understanding of the scope and volume of services rendered within each department
- Establish benchmarks customized for each department’s activity level
- Quantify the potential annual savings opportunity if the benchmark targets are achieved
Process Improvement Implementation
Once a staffing assessment is completed, BKD helps implement changes effectively at the departmental level through the following process:
- Observe existing work processes within the applicable department to obtain a better understanding of the current operational structure, use of technology, policies and procedures, staffing schedules, etc.
- Facilitate a structured intervention with several members of the department to identify factors that both inhibit productivity and facilitate productivity. This includes evaluating the impact other departments within the hospital have on the existing department’s operations
- Assist the department with the development of formal recommendations for improvement that will streamline processes and enhance the quality and efficiency of work performed
