Episode & Care Management Training
To help you establish an operations model rewarding high performing outcomes, BKD can provide home health episode management training and implementation services. These services can be designed to allow concurrent monitoring of clinical and financial outcomes while still influencing control during the episode. The model protocols utilize existing management tools, as well as supplemental tools designed by us, that will be designed to allow agency personnel to:
- Identify outcome indicators targeted for improvement
- Identify at-risk outcome indicators in each new episode
- Monitor at-risk outcomes during the episode
- Monitor targeted outcomes by personnel
- Monitor utilization by episode

OASIS Accuracy Assessments & Training
To help evaluate the adequacy and accuracy of Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data collection practices, which are the basis of the Medicare home health prospective payment system payment rates, BKD can look through selected patient medical records.
Our procedures include comparing actual OASIS assessment scoring and diagnosis coding from home health personnel to referral sheet documentation, medical plan of care, visit notes and other medical record documentation. We can compare payment rates based on the actual OASIS assessments scored by agency personnel to estimated payment rates based on the OASIS data we have rescored according to medical documentation.

Independent Review Organization (IRO) Designation
Home care organizations entering into a corporate integrity agreement (CIA) with the Department of Justice typically must contract with an IRO to independently verify their compliance with the CIA terms.
Our approach to acting as an IRO and providing independent verification uses cost-effective techniques customized to your CIA. We apply our experience with coding and billing and auditing to perform the required testing of the CIA, offering many potential benefits such as:
