Compensation
Pay is competitive for each location. Starting amounts are based on our evaluation of scholastic achievement or experience, leadership qualities, initiative and aptitude for public accounting. Compensation is reviewed annually, with adjustments made based on performance. Performance is reviewed semi-annually during the first three years of employment and annually thereafter.
Overnight Travel Award
Once qualified, employees traveling overnight on firm business are awarded $50 per night in additional compensation.
Balancing Life & Work
Paid Time Off (PTOs)
To provide more flexibility to employees, BKD offers PTOs, which cover vacation, sick leave, personal time and bereavement time. They accumulate monthly at rates tied to your years of employment with BKD and may be taken immediately. Full-time employees have the ability to purchase five additional days of PTO annually.
Reward Time Off
Employees contributing significant efforts completing projects may be rewarded with additional time off by designated partners.
Holidays
BKD's 10 holidays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, two days at Thanksgiving, two days at Christmas, and two BKD-determined days.
Personal Flexibility
Situational flex time is available for occasional use, and more extended flex time may be arranged with approval.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
To assist any BKD employee and their immediate family member with personal and job-related concerns,the EAP service is confidential and free of charge.

BKD Buddies
To enhance integration to the BKD team, all new employees are assigned a buddy. Buddies assist you in learning about our culture, values, practices and procedures.
Coaching
To enhance performance and nurture career development, all BKD team members are assigned a coach. Your coach provides ongoing performance and career feedback, helps resolve problems and issues that may arise and answers a variety of work-related questions.
CPA Exam Review and Bonus
BKD will pay for the Becker CPA Review course (live or Internet-based) and provide additional time off to take the exam within the first two years of employment. An incentive bonus also is offered to those who pass the exam in their first two years.
Training
BKD has a continuing professional education (CPE) program for audit and tax client service personnel. On average they receive more than 60 hours of training annually through BKD. Beginning with Camp BKD, staff accountants in audit and tax receive more than 100 hours of training in their first year.

Giving Back
Matching Gifts
BKD matches annual employee gifts of $50 to $500 to the accounting departments in selected schools and gives additional firm gifts.

Your Retirement
401(k) Plan
Employees who are 21 years or older with 30 days of continuous employment with BKD may contribute 0% to 50% of their pretax salaries to a 401(k) plan. For employees who are 21 or older and employed two years with BKD, the firm makes an annual contribution, based on a salary percentage. Employees are 100% vested after meeting the age and employment qualifications.

Flexible Benefits Plan with Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
BKD's optional cafeteria plan allows employees to pay, from before-tax earnings, for portions of their health care expenses not covered by our health care plan (including dental and vision), daycare expenses and health savings account (HSA) contributions as well as their share of the health, dental and vision insurance premiums.
Transportation Benefits
Eligible employees may use pre-tax dollars to pay monthly parking and mass transit expenses through the firm's transportation fringe benefit plan.
Health, Dental & Vision Benefits
Health Care Insurance
BKD offers a traditional plan with an optional flexible spending account and pays 60% of the premium for both employee coverage and dependent coverage. BKD also offers consumer-driven health plan with an optional health savings account and pays 70% of the premium for both employee coverage and dependent coverage. The employee-paid portion of premium is deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis.
Prescription Card
Employees enrolled in the firm's health care plan receive a prescription drug card for purchasing both brand-name and generic drugs at discounted prices.
Dental Insurance
BKD's health care plan includes an optional dental benefit for which the firm pays half the premium for both employee and family coverage. Two dental plan choices are available offering various levels of coverage for X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, inlays, etc. and orthodontic coverage.
Vision Services Plan
Employees may voluntarily sign up for a vision plan and receive exams, glasses and contacts for a fraction of their cost. Premiums are payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis.
Insurance
Life Insurance
AICPA group life insurance coverage is provided at two times an employee’s base salary, with lesser amounts provided for coverage of spouse and children after six months' employment. BKD pays all costs. Supplemental life insurance coverage for employees, spouses and/or children is available for purchase. Premiums are payroll deducted.
Long-term Disability Insurance
Benefits begin after a 90-day waiting period after the disability and continue for the duration of total disability or until age of normal retirement. BKD pays the monthly premium, which is added to your gross compensation and makes any disability benefit collected tax free.
Short-term Disability Insurance
Employees may voluntarily sign up for a short-term disability insurance policy. Premiums are payroll-deducted and any disability benefit collected is tax-free.
