You may want to begin your BKD career as an intern. Our program allows qualifying students to spend a semester helping with the kinds of general audit and tax assignments that a first-year staff person is assigned to. After successfully completing the internship, you may receive an offer to return as a staff accountant upon completion of your degree. For details, see our Internships page.

About BKD St. LouisOur office of more than 100, including 13 partners, is one of the largest CPA firms in the metropolitan area. Wendy Henry, managing partner, directs the office’s operations and administration. Joe Thompson is the recruiter. Our office opened in 1974 and operates from the One Financial Plaza building in downtown St. Louis, the heart of the metropolitan area’s business district. St. Louis and Decatur make up the St. Louis • Central Illinois practice unit of more than 135 people. Our Niches & ServicesWe assist clients with business and financial planning, information systems consulting, reimbursement consulting for health care providers, compliance consulting for financial institutions, business valuations, litigation services, employee benefits, projections and forecasts, feasibility studies, human resources issues and much more. Our office serves a diverse mix of industries, including health care, financial institutions, manufacturing, distribution, real estate and not-for-profits/government. Using RIA’s GoSystem RS, we annually process in-house approximately 1,700 tax returns of all types. Our audit professionals annually process more than 350 full-disclosure financial statements, including approximately 275 audit reports. 
Your Ties to the CommunityWe encourage our staff to become actively involved in community organizations and events and to participate in our BKD Foundation outreach where appropriate. It’s our way of supporting the community while expanding our network of business contacts. Locally, through BKD Foundation, our office supports the Moonlight Ramble, Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Skyway Farms Children’s Camp and many other local charitable causes. Our social activities include an annual summer outing, a holiday party, team sports, golf outings and other informal gatherings. We also participate in Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Club activities.
