Consider This
“Get to know the professors at the school you’re attending; they have a lot of knowledge about the different fields in accounting and are a great resource.”

Meet Our People
Challenging WorkJulie completed an internship at BKD and felt her values lined up with the firm’s. Once she decided upon a career in public accounting, she knew BKD would be her top choice. She hasn’t regretted it. “I like the changing atmosphere,” she says. “Every week I’m working at a different client and experiencing new challenges.” Rewarding OpportunitiesIn the Fort Wayne office, each individual works diligently, but also has a lot of fun, says Julie. She appreciates the strong teamwork. Plus, BKD gives back to the community with money, time and talent. One example is a beard-growing challenge to raise funds for the Community Harvest Food Bank. The office did so well, it was featured on the local news. Also, as presenting sponsor of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake, the Fort Wayne office had a large group attend the Kick-Off basketball game in January, and always has a good turnout for the bowl-a-thon in March. And a LifeJulie vigorously studies for the CPA exam, but builds in free time to exercise and cook. “I try to get outside as much as possible for exercise,” she says. “My preferred method is walking my dog, Hank.” She also runs and works out on the machines at the YMCA. Her vacations are spent traveling to visit friends and family in places such as Chicago; future destinations include Florida, Colorado, New Jersey and Wisconsin. |
