Camp BKD

As a brand new audit or tax staff accountant, you will attend training courses designed to prepare you for a successful career at BKD. A hallmark of our learning and development programs is the foundational education you receive during your first few weeks of employment. Everything you learn will help you get ready for the “real world” of accounting.

Local Office Orientation

You will receive three days of orientation training in your local office. This will help you get settled in your new environment, learn about office and firm policies and begin some technical training for the tools you’ll be using on the job. You’ll receive your first business cards and get a brand new notebook computer. Then you’re off to BKD Base Camp.

BKD Base Camp

You and other newly hired BKDers from throughout the firm come to Springfield to attend BKD Base Camp, which helps you build your social, teamwork and client service skills.  The three-day session focuses on BKD’s culture, etiquette, The BKD Experience:  Unmatched Client Service, teambuilding, our PRIDE values and a community service activity.  You’ll have plenty of time to get to know your co-workers and make new friends, too.  The experience lets you and the rest of the campers:

• Scramble for early morning reveille
• Learn proper table manners and business etiquette practices
• Sing your favorite songs at a dueling piano bar
• Work with your team to develop a skit and enhance your team building skills
• Ask the questions you’re dying to ask about BKD in a “campfire” setting
• Work for an Ozarks Greenways, homeless shelter or Habitat for Humanity community service project
• Dine with some of the top partners in BKD at a fine restaurant
• Relax or workout with your new co-workers

With lots of fun thrown into the mix, you’ll find your time at BKD Base Camp to be unforgettable.  Time and again, former campers say the top benefit is the opportunity to forge personal and professional relationships among your peers from around the firm.  These are the people you may be working with for many years to come.

Technical Ground School

After BKD Base Camp, you will attend Technical Ground School. This two-day session provides in-depth technical training. You’ll learn the “BKD approach” to audit and tax. Building on what you learned during your local office orientation, Technical Ground School prepares you for your first assignment.
