A People-Centered Firm

With the holidays in full swing, I’m constantly reminded how blessed I am to work at BKD. One of the things I’m most thankful for is how great the people are who work here. BKD strives to instill strong values in its employees after they’re hired, but BKDers already are living our PRIDE values—passion, respect, integrity, discipline and excellence—before they ever walk through our doors.

The stories in this edition of BKDLife point to those incredible qualities. In both their personal and professional lives, BKDers continually strive to exemplify these aspirational values in everything they do.

In this issue, follow four families as they share their unique stories of adopting children, how they came to the decision and the ups and downs associated with the emotional process. Then, learn about the unorthodox way retired Managing Partner Brenda Smith is spending her retirement:  running a luxury country club. Finally, take a trip down BKD memory lane with client service veteran Glois Appleton as she celebrates 50 years with the firm.

As we wrap up the year and enter 2017, take a moment to enjoy these encouraging stories and learn more about what makes our One Great Firm so great!
