BKD Foundation in Action
Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas (YEK) is a not-for-profit organization that teaches business and entrepreneurial skills to high school students in Wichita, Augusta, Haysville, Valley Center, Topeka and Lawrence.
Several BKD Wichita employees volunteer for YEK, so it was a natural next step for BKD Foundation to sponsor the band at last summer's high-profile Big Biz Bang fundraiser for YEK. Nearly 600 people enjoyed dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions, and the event raised $115,000. BKD's gift was so graciously received—and the party so much fun—that we will return as a sponsor of next year's fundraiser. |
BKD’s charitable foundation, BKD Foundation, enriches our local communities with financial support and the gift of time from BKD volunteers. Whenever possible, we strive to support local charitable organizations in which our own personnel are already involved. Since its inception, BKD Foundation has given more than $2.3 million to many qualifying 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in our 27 locations.
Each BKD office has a foundation committee that develops a process for determining and selecting beneficiaries. For more information on BKD Foundation in your community, contact the appropriate partner in charge in our Locations section. Our Foundation dollars and time are one way we support our communities, but our local offices have other community involvement activities above and beyond the local BKD Foundation initiatives. You’ll find our personnel represented on civic and charitable boards; involved in churches, synagogues and other religious organizations; and sponsors of a wide variety of community-based special events. Our BKD Matching Gift Program also provides financial support to colleges and universities from which we recruit accounting personnel. Representative BKD Foundation Beneficiaries
