National A&A Director to Speak on Financial Reporting

BKD National Accounting & Auditing (A&A) Director Doug Bennett has been chosen to participate on a panel of industry experts that will discuss potential changes in accounting and financial reporting in May.
Bennett is one of three speakers assembled by The Knowledge Group LLC for the webinar “Tectonic Shift in Accounting & Financial Reporting Coming: Are You Ready?” on Monday, May 23, 2011. The session will cover convergence projects by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and International Accounting Standards Board, including accounting for financial instruments, revenue recognition, leases, insurance contracts and up-to-the-minute regulatory changes.
Bennett, the senior technical partner in BKD’s A&A practice, has 26 years of industry experience. He oversees assurance engagements, peer reviews and internal office inspections, provides quality control guidance, plans annual A&A training and serves as chair of the firm’s A&A Committee. In this position, Doug advises the firm’s chief executive officer, professional practices partner and Governing Board on technical and risk management issues. He also performs technical review of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission engagements and provides technical support to BKD auditors.
