BKD Indy Plays Host to One Great Week 2011
Date: September 22, 2011
NATIONAL OFFICE –Neal Spencer, BKD, LLP chief executive officer, is proud to announce the firm's annual leadership conference, One Great Week 2011, is headed to Indianapolis. More than 700 partners and employees will attend the five-day event at the new JW Marriott Indianapolis, creating a significant economic impact for a city that is home to BKD's largest office. Conference activities include strategic planning, continuing professional education, networking opportunities and formal recognition of BKD's 2011 PRIDE Award winners. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas and Super Bowl champion quarterback Joe Theismann are featured keynote speakers.
"Indianapolis is the ideal setting for One Great Week 2011," Spencer said. "The city will play host to Super Bowl XLVI in February, and the Colts won it all in 2007. That championship spirit is alive and well at BKD as the firm looks to grow by focusing on unmatched client service."
Preliminary sessions begin Tuesday, September 27, and the conference begins in earnest on Wednesday, September 28. The following night, BKD will honor the 2011 PRIDE Award winners—Don Hutson, national industry partner for BKD National Financial Services Group, and Chris Lindner, an audit supervisor in the firm’s Lincoln, Nebraska, office—during a special dinner for partners, directors and managers at Lucas Oil Stadium. The award is given each year to one partner and one employee who exemplify the firm’s PRIDE values: passion, respect, integrity, discipline and excellence.
Bilas will address One Great Week attendees on Friday, September 30, stressing the importance of teamwork in business and life. The former Duke basketball player and assistant coach is a two-time Emmy nominee for Best Studio Analyst who was named Best Game Analyst by Sports Illustrated in 2010. That evening, partners and directors will travel to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a leadership dinner and to raise money for a local charity by offering fast laps on the track.
On Saturday, October 1, the conference concludes with insightful remarks from Joe Theismann, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and College Football Hall of Fame inductee. Theismann, a 12-year NFL veteran who has been a commentator on ESPN’s NFL broadcast for decades, won the league’s Man of the Year and MVP awards in the 1980s.
