Date: June 9, 2011
NATIONAL OFFICE – Neal Spencer, BKD, LLP chief executive officer, and John Wanamaker, managing partner of BKD’s Southern Missouri offices, are pleased to announce firm employees and partners have come together to help family and friends affected by the devastating EF-5 tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri, on May 22, 2011.
Through a firmwide call for contributions, partners and employees donated more than $53,000, which will go directly to help friends and family of BKD employees in the Joplin area.
“The generosity of individual BKD partners and employees to help BKD employees and their extended families who lost their homes, cars and other possessions during the tornado of a few short weeks ago is truly amazing,” Wanamaker said. “Our firm is clearly made up of individuals with the compassion to help one another in difficult times.”
In addition, several branches of the firm’s charitable arm, the BKD Foundation, have come together to donate more than $100,000 to the United Way to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts.
“On behalf of the BKD Foundation, we are pleased that we are able to financially help the United Way and its member agencies with their ongoing Joplin relief efforts in the wake of this terrible tragedy,” Wanamaker said.
