BKD Makes Airplane Available to Cancer Patients
Date: July 14, 2011
NATIONAL OFFICE – BKD,LLP joined the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) on June 1, and the firm’s corporate plane is now available to cancer and bone marrow transplant patients requesting free air travel through CAN.
CAN is a network of more than 500 U.S. corporations that provide free plane rides for those in need of transportation to medical facilities for treatment. Each week, CAN enters BKD’s flight schedule into its database and arranges travel for patients when routes match up and seats are available.
“The Corporate Angel Network offers us a great chance to use our company airplane to positively affect the lives of others,” BKD CEO Neal Spencer said. “We’re proud to be able to participate in this program as part of our continuing effort to serve the communities that are home to our offices and employees.”
CAN set a new record in 2010 by coordinating flights for 3,021 cancer patients, and the organization has transported close to 40,000 cancer patients on corporate planes since its founding in 1981.
